There’s an old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. I believe that an image can stir such strong emotions that a thousand words wouldn’t be enough to express it. Sometimes an image simply brings a single word to mind, or sometimes it
... [+]
inspires full poetry. An image might stir memories, make you laugh, make you cry, or make you feel at peace. I believe images speak a truth that is hard to express and that we should give ourselves time to soak in - whether a precious memory, a reminder of beauty, or the pull of a connection. The same image can speak in different ways to different people. This is a collection of what I heard. Seek out the images that makes you feel good, that make you smile, or inspire you to be better. I dedicate my art to my son, who I love dearly, am incredibly proud of and, many times, in awe of. He encourages me to try new things, forgives my many mistakes, knows how to make me laugh, and inspires me to be courageous. If any words touch your heart and you would like them on an image of your own, or you have an image you would like me to put words to - please feel free to email your request to jblake@imagesthatspeak.com. Thank you!

I'm driven by the romance of one shot, a glimpse of time that represents the apex of a single moment.
These un-captured images want their story to be told, so standing ready, I watch & wait. Mother nature
... [+]
presents her kaleidoscope of light, painting a scene that is worthy of the artist. Your anticipation holds reluctantly, she cycles through her many changes or color, light and dark changing everything in your perspective canvas. The story begins to unfold, your will is slowly broken & the time has arrived. The silence is shattered in a millisecond, with the release of a shutter. In that one moment, the light, the scene and the artist combine, to literally stop time. Never before and never again, will this moment appear.
All that remains is the image, captured by one shot.
-Enjoy these moments
After spending over 21 years traveling, living, and operating around the world in various countries, the day came where I finally had to retire from the military. I understood that a void was looming but was not sure what that void was going to be. C
... [+]
ontinuing on the retirement path, I realized that being around the types of American men and women I was around for over 21 years could not nor would not ever be replicated. On the other hand, the void that I could control was the things and people I saw daily. After multiple deployments and long conversations with friends and family. I realized that they could never understand the full gravity of what I was explaining to them about other countries and my experiences in the world. Like that, I had an answer to that void. Photography!
I started my business Lens-14 Photography shortly after retiring from the military and was all over the map. Do I do portraits, landscapes, weddings, cars, animals? Then it hit me; the void was the inability to relay what I had seen and experienced effectively. Not that I can't tell stories, I am a fantastic storyteller (True Story), it was that some things just couldn't be felt or understood unless they are seen.
Lens-14 Photography aims to provide you with "my" visual depiction of the things I see from traveling to wherever those places are that I shall end up. As the kids once asked, "Why do you always tell us about the places you have been?" My answer to them, and you, "because my greatest hope is that in life y'all will get to experience at least just a little, if not tremendously more, of the beauty I have seen"
I am greatly appreciative of you for taking the time the view my page. I hope that "my" visual depictions of what I have seen strike your mind, heart, or soul in a way that matters to you.

Joseph Vallejo of Vallejo Gallery (Newport Beach) commented “he has a unique style and his works have some similarity to Rockwell Kent, also I like his bold use of color”. Sumner's artwork reveals a contemporary impressionistic style that demonstrates his perceptive eye and refined knowledge of color, texture and light. Sumner strives to create pieces that are unique and pleasing to the eye.

Connie D. Phillips lives in the Choctaw Nation Reservation in southeast Oklahoma. The mountains, trees, and rivers of her homeland and the culture history of the Choctaw people have shaped her artistic vision, creating a tapestry of natural beauty an
... [+]
d cultural resilience that defines her oeuvre.
Connie's art is a tribute to the strength and enduring love of Choctaw women, reflecting the qualities that sustained her grandmothers through their lives. Women occupy a central role in her artwork, and she tries to recreate their inherent qualities through an evolving, looser, and more abstract style. This abstraction allows her to capture emotions more than precise forms, articulating the intangible qualities of her subjects—their resilience, grace, and love.
Her creative journey began at a young age, driven by an intrinsic passion for art. Her artistic practice spans a variety of mediums, including ceramics, leather, photography, acrylics, pastels, and watercolor. Still, she feels most at home with oil painting, where she can explore depth and complexity with transparent layers. The artist also likes to add ultra-thin layers of 24k gold, copper, and sterling silver to her work.
Notable influences in her work include the majestic rivers and mountains of southeast Oklahoma and the history of her native ancestors. She offers viewers a glimpse into the world of the Choctaw people, expressing their beauty, history, and resilience.
Connie D. Phillips' art is not just a visual feast; it is a medium of cultural storytelling, a timeless celebration of heritage and identity, echoed within an interplay of oil, metal, and the essence of the land she calls home.

i censure.

Biography
Born in Toronto, Karen Rieger grew up in an artistic environment. Her mother Charlotte was always engaged in creative projects around the home and her father Theodor was a talented artist who received his classical training in Czechoslovakia. In Toronto he had a long and successful career as an art director, an illustrator and in his later years pursued his passion as a fine artist.
Although surrounded by this creativity, Karen came late to her artistic pursuits. In her early twenties while studying English Literature at the University of Toronto, she found herself much happier doodling than writing essays. She went on to spend two years studying at “The Art Centre”- Central Technical School’s renowned post-secondary art program, before completing her art education at the Ontario College of Art.
Since then she has shown widely in numerous galleries throughout North America
Karen is currently represented by galleries in Canada and the United States:
Artspace Oakville, Oakville, Ontario
Lando Gallery, Edmonton, AB
Fountainhead Gallery, Seattle, WA
